VISION
MomSkwela is the institution that serves as catalyst in the wholistic development of mothers and homemakers towards a more fulfilling and values-driven family life. Through educational interventions and mentorship, mothers find greater fulfilment in their roles as wife, mother and homemaker as they aspire to higher ideals and be more Nurturing, Educated, Responsive, Dignified, Positive, Influential and Confident.
MISSION
MomSkwela is a collaborative community of Mothers, Educators and Mentors who aim to inspire transformation and personal growth amongst mothers and homemakers. Utilizing various media channels and direct and personal engagements, MomSkwela aspires to educate and impart knowledge, build skills and form more enduring family-oriented values to a network of women/mothers specifically, by
-
Enabling their higher order, critical thinking and problem-solving skills in daily life situations as they fulfill their multi-dimensional roles in the family.
-
Helping them realize and fulfill their care-giving ambition of building bright, cheerful and loving homes for their husbands and children.
-
Empowering them with greater hard and soft skills needed in home and family life to eradicate any feeling of helplessness and oppression.
As they put these lessons into practice, with the support of an active learning community of homemakers, they will begin to realize and experience the joy of a more stable family life and happier families, their greatest source of pride and contribution to society.
This program has two basic components:
-
Broadcast: A one hour radio program is aired over DZUP 1602. The segment is handled by a host, subject matter expert, and guest “real moms” to deliver and express their sentiments and concerns as triggers for discussion.
-
School: An 8-module class is held during the entire school year in partnership with Santolan Elementary School. Each module runs for 1 1/2 hours monthly. Attendees are comprised of both teachers and head parent coordinators of the school.
MomSkwela is a project conceptualized and developed by the team as an offshoot of the Family Education Program of the University of Asia & the Pacific (UA&P).
