PEPPI

PEPPI’s pre-history traces its roots to the creation of a club for girls on March 23, 1986. The weekly activities were held in two private homes, one venue for primary and intermediate school girls and the other for high school girls. The participants were from various schools in Alabang, including Woodrose, La Salle Zobel, St. Scholastica, and Montessori. Thanks to the help of several women volunteers, there were regular activities rain or shine, school days or summer months. The club was eventually called Narra Club.

The third venue was a building at 101 University Avenue, Ayala Alabang. It was leased for free for a 5-year period to the club organizers by the generous owner on December 12, 1986. Not only students participated, but also mothers and household helpers came to benefit from the different programs conducted in the club. The activities had a wide range including, but not limited to, the following; skills-building courses, culinary trips, cultural excursions, sports days with underprivileged children, talks on the faith, and urban and rural outreach programs. There was even the memorable summer Narra Inter-Club Songfest from 1987-1991, which sparked the growth of family clubs in the National Capital Region and Cebu.

Eventually, the definitive seat of a Center for Learning for Volunteers had to be put up.

On January 8, 1991, People Engaged in People Projects Foundation, Inc. (PEPPI) received the Securities and Exchange Commission Certificate of Registration through the efforts of the volunteers who started and developed Narra Club. The foundation was meant to be the legal owner of the first PEPPI Center of Learning located in the Southern National Capital Region. The seed money for the incorporation came from the savings of Narra Club.

PEPPI immediately got the Bureau of Internal Revenue NEDA certificate as a tax-exempt donee institution. This facilitated the fundraising campaign of the Development Board comprised of 10 teams with 10 members each. Each team met weekly to track the needed funds for the construction of the Center at 21 Corregidor St., Tierra Nueva Village, Alabang. Construction began in May 1991 and was completed in March 1992. Narra Nueva Study Center, PEPPI’s first Center of Learning, started programs that helped train dedicated volunteers, who in turn reached out through their initiatives to more communities in the growing residential, educational, and commercial developments in Muntinlupa, Parañaque, and Las Piñas.

In 1994, PEPPI constructed its second Center of Learning – Kamawi Center. It was the fruit of the efforts of professional women in the thriving business centers of Makati. Focused on the needs of women in the corporate setting, Kamawi offers an environment that nurtures personal growth.

In 1995, PEPPI headed to Bacolod City and established its third Center of Learning – Kasanag Study Center. It took its name from the local Hiligaynon word which means “light.” It promotes the holistic development of the female students, mothers, and women professionals who attend their educational activities.

In 2000, PEPPI began in Las Piñas its fourth Center of Learning – Crestfield Center. It opened its doors and became the base for imparting love for the family and building skills in the home through volunteers’ initiatives, such as the Home Academy, Sophie May Homemaking Guild, and the Kabataan Public High School Clubs in Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, and Silang.

In 2011, PEPPI created its fifth Center of Learning – Kanluran Center. It offers opportunities for personal and professional growth among those who work in the food and beverage industry and home management business. Kanluran accomplishes this through its mentoring program integrated to a syllabus focused on excellence in residential service skills.

In 2015, PEPPI built and started operating in Pasig City its sixth Center of Learning – Pasig Center. It focuses on the integral development of young professional women. Through the activities under the Yuppie Timeout banner, Pasig Center helps women in their personal, social, and spiritual growth. From this venue, programs have been conducted for women in businesses, office work, hospitals, educational institutions, homes, and socio-civic work.

In 2019, PEPPI put up in Quezon City its seventh Center of Learning – Vinta Center. It is home to a growing number of volunteers. Together with their trainers, these volunteers are engaged in relevant programs for the growth, enrichment, and well-being of families. Among their initiatives are the Purple Hands Club, Coffee Mornings with Moms, Home Experts, and HTC (Happy to the Core).

The need for expansion to new areas to reach more volunteers is upon PEPPI. PEPPI is eager to meet this challenge to go and spread the values it is committed to share with all people. It seeks the collaboration of magnanimous individuals
